ComEd to Seek Record Setting Rate Hikes

(Chicago, IL) Utility company Commonwealth Edison is looking for massive new rate hikes. The company filed with state regulators Tuesday, for hikes that would increase delivery rates by a total of $1.5 billion between 2024 and 2027. The 2024 increase would be a record high $894 million, followed by three straight years at 198-million. For the average consumer, that would mean close to a 7-dollar monthly increase on your bill in 2024, and about 17-dollars a month more by 2027. ComEd says the increases are needed to upgrade and protect the electric grid, especially as more electric vehicles come online. A decision is expected in about 11-months.
