(Waukegan, IL) The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group set more records last year. Sheriff’s officials say the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area funded task force opened 112 criminal cases in 2022, making 67 arrests, and seizing nearly 7-million-dollars worth of illegal drugs across the county. Those seizures included nearly 10-thousand grams of fentanyl, which is said to be enough to kill thousands of people. Other seized drugs included cocaine, heroin, and illegally trafficked cannabis and prescription pills. The SIG also recovered 120 illegally possessed firearms.
