Bills Being Considered in Illinois Would Allow “Human Composting”

(Springfield, IL) Illinois is considering allowing people to make themselves into a fertilizer of sorts after they are dead. So-called “human composting” is when human remains are turned into soil over the course of a couple of weeks. If passed, the bill which has been introduced in the Illinois House, would lead to a highly regulated process to allow the act. Seven other states in the U.S. already have “human composting” laws, but Illinois would be the first Midwest state to do so.
