(Waukegan, IL) A New York man is in the Lake County Jail, after being charged in connection with a Deerfield crash that killed two people earlier this year. Officials say Josue Noboa was drag racing another vehicle on I-94 back in April, when that other vehicle ended up in a wreck with two semis. The crash killed two of three people inside that vehicle…and Noboa is accused of fleeing the scene. The 22-year-old was arrested Monday and is charged with three counts of reckless homicide and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Bond has been set at 1-million-dollars.

Covid-19 Stats From Wednesday

(Chicago, IL) A near record-setting testing day led to a rise in Covid-19 cases in Illinois. The state announced 1,187 new confirmed cases on Wednesday, which was over 400 more than Tuesday, but testing increased by nearly 10-thousand over the previous day. Deaths were down, with 8 new fatalities announced…and none were in Lake County. Hospital use ticked up slightly for the 3rd straight day, but those numbers remain below where they were at this point last week. ICU use by Covid patients fell for the 2nd straight day, with the highest concentration of patients in the West and Southwest Suburban Regions, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Governor Changing Regional Coronavirus Plan

(Chicago, IL) Governor JB Pritzker has separated suburban areas from the city of Chicago, in an effort to better track, and slow down potential Coronavirus hot spots. Lake County now sits in the North Suburban Region along with neighboring McHenry County. The Governor says the move allows the state to tighten restrictions when warranted, and also allows targeted mobile testing, like the pop-up site last Sunday, and this coming Sunday in Lake Zurich. Some factors that would lead to increased restrictions include 7 straight days of hospital increases in Covid patients, a 20% or more reduction in ICU beds, and/or issues tied to the positive infection rate.
